Commemorative Series, 330. AE (Orichalcum, 16 mm, 4.31 g, 12 h), Constantinopolis. P - R Pax standing front, head to left, holding olive branch in her right hand and transverse scepter in her left. Rev. [P] - R Pax standing front, head to left, holding olive branch in her right hand and transverse scepter in her left. Cf. RIC VIII 106 corr. ('Rome'). A highly unusual and interesting piece. Plugged hole and with minor roughness and light scratches, otherwise, very fine.

This unique and remarkable item consists of two examples of the Constantinopolitan commemorative issue RIC VIII 106, joined together with a silver peg through a drilled hole in each. The weight is 4.31 g, which includes sediment stuck between the two pieces. This weight does not agree with any weight standard or coin weight. The purpose of this piece is therefore unknown, although use as a gaming piece cannot be excluded.
